SoftLift Laser in Sydney

Deep collagen work. The surface left intact.

SoftLift is the gentlest setting on the Alma Hybrid laser: its 1570 nm wavelength, used on its own. It heats the deeper layer of the skin through microscopic columns while the surface stays whole, to set off new collagen and elastin. Skin becomes firmer, smoother and more even over the following months, and most people are back to their day within hours. At Cleon in Potts Point, Dr Brandon assesses your skin and sets the plan, in a doctor-led clinic.

How it works

How does SoftLift work?

SoftLift is a fractional, non-ablative laser. It works on the collagen layer beneath the surface, not on the surface itself. The name says lift. What it delivers is firmer, better-quality skin, built gradually. Not a surgical lift.

In short

SoftLift is a non-ablative fractional laser treatment on the Alma Hybrid. It uses the 1570 nm erbium fibre laser on its own to heat microscopic columns in the dermis while the surface stays intact, so the skin builds new collagen and elastin. It’s used for fine lines, crepey or thinning skin, early laxity and uneven texture on the face, neck and around the mouth. A session takes 30 to 45 minutes, downtime is a few hours of redness, and a course is usually three sessions about a month apart. Sometimes called the lunchtime lift, it improves skin quality. It isn’t a surgical lift.

How SoftLift works beneath the surface A cross-section of skin. The surface, marked 1, stays intact. The laser places a grid of microscopic heat columns, marked 2, down through the epidermis into the dermis, with untouched skin between them. Around the columns, marked 3, new collagen and elastin form over the following months. 123 EpidermisLeft intact DermisCollagen & elastin 1570 nm · fractional · non-ablative
  • The surface stays whole

    Non-ablative

SoftLift uses the Alma Hybrid’s 1570 nm erbium fibre laser on its own. Water in the skin absorbs the light and turns it into heat beneath the surface. Nothing is removed and no open channels are made, which is why recovery is measured in hours.

    • No open wounds
    • Minimal downtime
  • Microscopic columns of heat

    Fractional

A cooled scanner places the energy as a fine grid of columns, with untreated skin between them. That untouched skin helps each column heal quickly from the sides. The area, depth and energy are set for your skin.

    Weeks to months

The heat sets off the skin’s own repair response. Over the following weeks and months, new collagen and elastin are laid down in the dermis. Skin becomes firmer, smoother and denser, gradually. The best result shows three to six months after a course.

What it addresses

What skin concerns does SoftLift address?

SoftLift works on the quality of the skin itself: firmness, density, fine texture. It’s at its best early, and as maintenance. Deeper lines, sun damage and scarring usually need a stronger setting.

Fine lines

Fine lines on the cheeks, forehead and around the eyes soften as new collagen forms beneath them. Deeper, set lines respond better to a stronger setting.

Crepey, thinning skin

Skin that has started to look thin and crinkled, often on the neck or under the eyes. SoftLift builds density from underneath.

Early laxity

The first softening along the jaw and neck. SoftLift firms the skin gradually. It won’t lift sagging tissue the way surgery does.

Texture & pores

Rough, uneven texture and enlarged pores refine as the skin remodels, without the surface being broken.

Lines around the mouth

Fine vertical lines above the lip and around the mouth. Treated on their own as the Laser Lip Lift.

Prevention & maintenance

Skin that’s ageing well, and you’d like it to stay that way. A gentle, repeatable way to support collagen before laxity sets in.

Is this right for me?

Am I suited to SoftLift?

This might suit you if

  • Your skin is starting to look thinner, crepey or less firm, especially on the neck or around the eyes
  • You have fine lines, uneven texture or enlarged pores, and want gradual improvement
  • You want little downtime: back to work the same day or the next
  • You can commit to a short course, and to SPF every day

Worth discussing in consultation first

  • You’re pregnant or breastfeeding, or you’ve taken isotretinoin (Roaccutane) recently
  • You get cold sores, or you scar easily or form raised (keloid) scars
  • You’ve been tanning or had a lot of sun in the last month, or you take medicines that make skin sensitive to light
  • Your main concern is sagging skin, jowls or deep folds. SoftLift improves skin quality. It won’t lift tissue

The device

Why SoftLift on the Alma Hybrid?

The Alma Hybrid carries two lasers in one scanner: a CO₂ laser for the surface and a 1570 nm fibre laser for the deeper layer. SoftLift uses the 1570 nm laser on its own.

  • The gentlest setting. No surface wounds, so recovery is measured in hours.
  • A cooled scanner. The ProScan applicator places each column precisely, with built-in cooling for comfort.
  • Room to step up. If your skin needs more, PixelPeel and Hybrid Lift run on the same platform.

Dr Brandon assesses your skin and sets the plan: the area, the energy and the number of sessions. Treatments are performed by our clinical team under his medical supervision, and your progress is reviewed. Results are monitored, not assumed. More about the Alma Hybrid.

What results look like.

SoftLift changes skin gradually, not overnight. Expect firmer, smoother, more even skin over months, rather than a dramatic change after one session.

It won’t lift sagging skin or erase deep lines. If that’s your goal, Dr Brandon will tell you honestly, and talk you through what will.

Results vary between individuals and depend on your skin, the concern and the number of sessions. Images have not been altered by Cleon. What’s realistic for your skin is a conversation for your consultation.

Pricing

How much does SoftLift cost?

SoftLift is $750 per session for the face or the neck, $1,100 for the face and neck together, and $400 for the Laser Lip Lift. Most people have a course of three, about a month apart. Your plan is set in consultation.

  • Face & neck

The full face and the neck, treated together in one session. For crepey neck skin as well as the face.$400 less than treating them separately.

What to expect

What is recovery like after SoftLift?

Short. Expect redness and warmth for a few hours, then mild dryness or swelling for a day or two. Most people are back to normal the same day or the next. Here’s a typical course, from consultation to result.

  1. Consultation

Dr Brandon looks at your skin, your history and how much downtime you can take, then sets the plan. A test patch may be suggested for deeper skin tones.

  2. Treatment day

Your skin is cleansed. Numbing cream is rarely needed, but can be used. The scanner moves across the area in a set pattern, and you’ll feel warmth and a prickle of heat. About 30 to 45 minutes.

  3. The first hours

Skin looks flushed and feels warm, like mild sunburn. It settles over a few hours. Keep it cool, moisturised and protected with SPF.

  4. The next few days

Some pinkness, mild swelling or dryness for a day or two. Skin may feel slightly rough as it renews. Make-up from the next day.

  5. Your course

Usually three sessions, about a month apart. Each one builds on the last.

  6. Months three to six

Collagen keeps building for months. Skin becomes firmer, smoother and denser, gradually. The result is best judged three to six months after your last session.

How it compares

SoftLift, PixelPeel or Hybrid Lift: what’s the difference?

All three run on the same Alma Hybrid. What changes is the laser used, how deep it works, and how long you need to recover.

Frequently asked

SoftLift laser in Sydney: your questions

Anything else, email hello@cleonclinic.com or call 0438 163 638.

What is SoftLift?

SoftLift, sometimes written Soft Lift, is a non-ablative laser treatment on the Alma Hybrid. It uses the 1570 nm wavelength on its own to heat the deeper layer of the skin through microscopic columns, while the surface stays intact. The aim is new collagen and elastin, so skin becomes firmer, smoother and denser over the following months, with very little downtime.

How does SoftLift work?

Water in the skin absorbs the 1570 nm light and turns it into heat. The scanner places that heat as a fine grid of columns reaching into the dermis, with untouched skin between them. The heat sets off the skin’s repair response, and new collagen and elastin form over weeks to months. Because nothing is removed from the surface, recovery is quick.

Is SoftLift the same as a CO2 laser?

No. A CO2 laser is ablative: it removes tiny columns of the skin’s surface, which is why it needs more recovery. SoftLift uses only the non-ablative 1570 nm laser, so the surface stays intact. The Alma Hybrid has both. PixelPeel is a light CO2 setting, and Hybrid Lift combines CO2 and 1570 nm for deeper change.

What is a non-ablative laser?

A laser that heats the skin without removing its surface. Ablative lasers, such as CO2, vaporise microscopic columns of the surface, so the skin has to grow it back and recovery takes days. Non-ablative lasers, such as the 1570 nm laser used for SoftLift, pass through the surface and heat the layer beneath. The skin repairs from the inside, and recovery is measured in hours.

Is SoftLift similar to Fraxel, Clear + Brilliant or Moxi?

They work on the same principle: a non-ablative fractional laser that heats columns in the skin to stimulate collagen, with little downtime. The wavelengths differ. SoftLift uses 1570 nm, which reaches the dermis. Others use 1440, 1550 or 1927 nm, which target different depths. Which suits you depends on your skin and your concern, and that’s a conversation for the consultation.

Does SoftLift hurt?

Most people feel warmth and a prickle of heat as the scanner passes. The applicator has built-in cooling. Numbing cream is rarely needed, but can be used if you’d like it.

What is the downtime after SoftLift?

Short. Expect redness and warmth for a few hours, like mild sunburn. Some people have mild swelling, dryness or sensitivity for a day or two. Most go back to normal activities the same day or the next.

Can I wear make-up after SoftLift?

Usually from the next day. Give your skin the rest of the treatment day to settle, then use gentle make-up and SPF.

How many SoftLift sessions will I need?

Usually a course of three, about a month apart. Some skin benefits from more. Dr Brandon sets a realistic plan in consultation, not a standard number.

When will I see results from SoftLift?

Skin can look fresher within a week or two. Firmness and density build over three to six months as new collagen forms. The result is best judged a few months after your last session.

How long do SoftLift results last?

The collagen you build stays, but ageing doesn’t stop. Many people keep their result with an occasional maintenance session, daily SPF and good skincare. Dr Brandon will advise on timing for your skin.

Will SoftLift tighten loose skin?

It can firm skin with early laxity, gradually. It won’t lift sagging skin, jowls or deep folds the way surgery does. If laxity is your main concern, Dr Brandon will tell you honestly whether SoftLift is the right tool, or whether another approach would serve you better.

Is SoftLift a laser skin tightening treatment?

It’s often described that way, and it does firm the skin. The more accurate word is thickening. SoftLift builds collagen and elastin in the dermis, so skin becomes denser, firmer and smoother over months. It doesn’t lift or reposition tissue. For sagging, jowls or deep folds, Dr Brandon will talk you through what would.

Why is SoftLift called the lunchtime lift?

Because it fits into a lunch break. A session takes 30 to 45 minutes, numbing is rarely needed, and the redness afterwards settles over a few hours, so most people go back to work the same afternoon. The “lift” is a gradual firming of the skin, not a surgical one.

Is SoftLift safe for darker skin tones?

Non-ablative 1570 nm laser suits a wider range of skin tones than ablative CO2 laser, because the surface isn’t removed. Deeper skin can still darken after heat or irritation, so settings are chosen with care, and a test patch may be suggested first.

Is SoftLift safe? What are the side effects?

SoftLift is a medical laser treatment, so it carries risks, and they’re discussed before anything happens. The common effects are mild and short-lived: redness, warmth, mild swelling, dryness or a rough feel for a day or two. Less common are a temporary change in pigment, especially in deeper skin tones or after recent sun, and a cold sore flare in people who get them. Blistering or scarring is rare. Your medical history is screened, settings are chosen for your skin, and the treatment is performed under medical supervision.

Can SoftLift treat the neck?

Yes. The neck is one of the most common areas, especially for crepey or thinning skin. It can be treated on its own for $750, or with the face for $1,100.

Can SoftLift treat the skin around the eyes?

Yes. Crepey skin and fine lines around the eyes are among the most common reasons people choose SoftLift, and the area is treated as part of the face. Protective eye shields are worn throughout.

Is SoftLift suitable for men?

Yes. The settings are chosen for the skin in front of us, not the gender. Men’s skin treatments are also offered through Male by Cleon.

What age is SoftLift for?

There’s no set age. It suits skin that’s starting to show fine lines, thinning or early laxity, often from the mid-thirties on. Earlier, it’s used as prevention. Later, it’s used as maintenance alongside other treatments. Your skin decides, not your age.

What is the Laser Lip Lift?

SoftLift around the mouth, for the fine vertical lines above the lip and around the lip border. It’s $400. It isn’t a surgical lip lift and doesn’t change the shape of the lip. It improves the skin around it.

How much does SoftLift cost in Sydney?

At Cleon, SoftLift is $750 for the face or the neck, $1,100 for the face and neck together, and $400 for the Laser Lip Lift. Prices are per session. Most people have a course of three.

Does Medicare cover SoftLift?

No. SoftLift is a cosmetic treatment, so there’s no Medicare rebate, and private health insurance doesn’t cover it.

Can I have SoftLift if I’ve had anti-wrinkle injections or filler?

Usually, yes, with the right spacing. Tell us what you’ve had and when, and Dr Brandon will set the order and timing so each treatment does its job.

Can I have SoftLift in summer?

Yes. Because the surface stays intact, SoftLift is more forgiving than CO2 laser. Avoid tanning and sunburn for about four weeks before and after, and wear SPF 50+ every day.

How do I prepare for SoftLift?

Avoid tanning and sunburn for about four weeks beforehand. Tell us about any medicines, including blood thinners and anything that makes skin sensitive to light, recent isotretinoin, and any history of cold sores. Dr Brandon gives you a full pre-treatment plan at your consultation.

Who shouldn’t have SoftLift?

SoftLift isn’t used during pregnancy, including IVF, or where there’s an active infection, an active cold sore or skin cancer in the area. Recent isotretinoin, a history of keloid scarring, epilepsy, bleeding disorders and some other conditions and medicines need care or rule it out. Your medical history is reviewed before any treatment.

Can SoftLift be combined with other treatments?

Often. LED light therapy, skin needling, PRP and prescribed skincare can all sit in the same plan, on different visits. When more change is needed, PixelPeel or Hybrid Lift can follow. What belongs together, and in what order, depends on your skin.
